On October 11, 2025, Jessica Grimmer and CAFe hosted a “Remix-a-Thon” using the Library of Congress’s Citizen DJ project—which lets the public create new music by exploring and remixing thousands of free-to-use sound recordings from the Library’s vast audiovisual collections. Citizen DJ creator, Brian Foo, attended in person to discuss the creative potential of the project and guide participants through the process.
- The new American Library Association Standards for Library Services for the Incarcerated or Detained is now available in print. Prof. Victoria Van Hyning served as an author, editor and project manager for this effort (2021-2024), ensuring greater emphasis on accessibility of the physical library environment, as well as accessible formats and technologies for people with print disabilities.
- Diana Marsh and Eric Hung were highlighted in the Maryland Today article this week of UMD faculty and staff awards and honors of the past quarter, for receiving the Society of American Archivists’ 2024 Archival Innovator Award for their multi-partner project, “The Indigenous Archival Training Program.”
